Letter From A Father To His Daughter
George T. I want to read the letters written by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru to his daughter. I have heard that Pt. In my childhood in christian prayers I …more I have heard that Pt. In my childhood in christian prayers I have studied that the earth and all the animals, people, etc were the creation of Jesus Christ.Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India, was one of the prominent figures during the Indian freedom struggle.
He started writing letters to his daughter Indira when she was ten years old. He wrote to her about diverse topics, ranging from the origin of the Earth to history of races and faith.
To begin with, man had no special weapons to fight his enemies. As it became warmer, men spread out. In those days there were no houses or other buildings. People lived in caves. Men ate fruits and nuts and the animals they killed. They did not know cooking but perhaps they just heated the meat on the big fires they had.
One thing is very curious. These savage men knew how to draw. They simply had their stone needles and pointed instruments. With these they scratched or drew animals on the walls of caves. You know that it is easier to draw profiles, and children usually draw in this way.
As the caves must have been dark it is probable that they used some kind of simple lamp. These men that we have described are called Palaeolithic men, or the men of the old Stone Age. That period is called the Stone Age because men made all their tools with stone.
They did not know how to use the metals. Today most of your things are made of metals, specially iron. But iron or bronze was not known then, and so stone, which is much more difficult to work with, was used. Before the Stone Age came to an end, the climate of the world changed greatly and became much warmer. The glaciers had gone far back to the Arctic Ocean, and in Central Asia and Europe great forests arose.
Among these forests we find a new race of men living. These people were cleverer in many ways than the Palaeolithic men whom we have just described. But they still made their tools out of stone. These men also belonged to the Stone Age but it was the later Stone Age. They are called Neolithic men or men of the new Stone Age. We find when examining these Neolithic men that great progress has been made. All rights reserved.

He wanted to make his daughter aware of her circumstances, of her environment. Nehru's intention was to nurture Indira's young and impressionable mind with an unprejudiced view of history, as well as the current state of affairs. In these letters, Nehru takes up a variety of topics. He discusses natural history, the beginning of the earth, and evolution.
He talks about the varied races of the world, the genetic make-up, the differences in communities, and races, how these races were formed, and why people look different. Nehru also touches upon the topic of civilizations. He discusses the ancient civilizations, the great cities of ancient times, the origin of language and religion, the growth of mankind, and the changes in religion and its current manifestations.
Nehru also elaborately discusses the history of India, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the great kings of the past and their kingdoms. The topics of economics, trade, and travel were also tackled by Nehru.
He wanted Indira to have an empathetic view towards the world, its conflicts and woes. He also touched upon topics like division of labour, problems of the peasants, and the economically deprived.

The son of Motilal Nehrua prominent lawyer and nationalist statesman and Swaroop Rani, Nehru was a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge and the Inner Templewhere he trained to be a barrister.
Upon his return to India, he enrolled at the Allahabad High Court and took an interest in national politics, which eventually replaced his legal practice. A committed nationalist since his teenage years, he became a rising figure in Indian politics during the upheavals of the s. He became the prominent leader of the left-wing factions of the Indian National Congress during the s, and eventually of the entire Congress, with the tacit approval of his mentor, Gandhi.

Nehru and the Congress dominated Indian politics during the s as the country moved towards independence. His idea of a secular nation-state was seemingly validated when the Congress swept the provincial elections and formed the government in several provinces; on the other hand, the separatist Muslim League fared much poorer.
But these achievements were severely compromised in the aftermath of the Quit India Movement inwhich saw the British effectively crush the Congress as a political organisation. Nehru, who had reluctantly heeded Gandhi's call for immediate independence, for he had desired to support the Allied war effort during World War IIcame out of a lengthy prison term to a much altered political landscape.
Negotiations between Congress and Muslim League for power sharing failed and gave way to the independence and bloody partition of India in Nehru was elected by the Congress to assume office as independent India's first Prime Minister, although the question of leadership had been settled as far back aswhen Gandhi acknowledged Nehru as his political heir and successor.
As Prime Minister, he set out to realise his vision of India.
The Constitution of India was enacted inafter which he embarked on an ambitious program of economic, social and political reforms. Chiefly, he oversaw India's transition from a colony to a republic, while nurturing a plural, multi-party system. In foreign policy, he took a leading role in the Non-Aligned Movement while projecting India as a regional hegemon in South Asia. Under Nehru's leadership, the Congress emerged as a catch-all partydominating national and state-level politics and winning consecutive elections in, and He remained popular with the people of India in spite of political troubles in his final years and failure of leadership during the Sino-Indian War.
His father, Motilal Nehru —a self-made wealthy barrister who belonged to the Kashmiri Pandit community, served twice as President of the Indian National Congressin and His mother, Swaruprani Thussu —who came from a well-known Kashmiri Brahmin family settled in Lahore was Motilal's second wife, the first having died in child birth.Jump to navigation. The celebration of Children's Day can never be complete without remembering the contributions of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The happy conjunction of this special day for children and the birth anniversary of their Chacha Nehru is not a coincidence. It's a way of remembering the great leader's fondness and love for children and his efforts towards bettering their lives. So, on his th birth anniversary, let us revisit Pandit Nehru's famous words of advice that he had written to his daughter, Indira Gandhi, which can still be hailed for inspiring today's younger generation.
I have always thought that the best way to find out what is right and what is not right, what should be done and what should not be done, is not by giving a sermon, but by talking and discussing, and out of discussion sometimes a little bit of truth comes out. I have liked my talks with you and we have discussed many things, but the world is wide and beyond our world lie other wonderful and mysterious worlds For the desire to hide anything means that you are afraid, and fear is a bad thing and unworthy of you.
Be brave, and all the rest follows. We work in the sun and in the light. Even so in our private lives let us make friends with the sun and work in the light and do nothing secretly They have nothing to do with the worthiness or goodness or beauty of a person. It only helps us to get other things that we want.
It helps us to exchange goods Some foolish people imagine that money itself is a good and they collect and hoard it, instead of using it.
This shows that they do not know how money came to be used and what it really is. Pandit Nehru's advice to his daughter is something all of us need today On the occasion of Nehru's th birth anniversary, we bring you excerpts from those precious letters that he had written to his daughter, Indira Gandhi. He got his education at Horrow and Cambridge University. He became a barrister after studying Natural Science and Law. He returned to India in He joined Indian Politics, being deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. He was not only a politician, but also a dreamer, idealist, humanist and artist as well. His work is remarkable for a rare vigour and beauty and had established him as a master of English Prose. The author, after fourteen and a half months, living in Dehra Dun Jail feels that he is fully familiar with every bit of it.
He has become almost a part of it. He does not feel that he is alone in his cell as many creatures are living there. He had better cells in other prisons. But in Dehra Dun, he had one privilege which was very precious to him. The cell was very small. He could not move in it. So he was allowed to walk outside in morning and evening.
That extra privilege was much for his contact with nature. He could see mountains, fields and public-roads.Yamaha bolt turbo
Only a prisoner, confined for long behind high walls, can understand the psychological value of the outside walks. It was so valued that the author did not stop his morning and evening walks even in rainy season. For months when he was all alone in his cell and not interviewed, he gazed at the mountains and enjoyed. Spring was very pleasant in Dehra Dun but the winter denuded almost all the trees of their leaves.
But very mysteriously, the situation changed and green leaves came out all over them. It was a gay and cheering sight.
Sudden change from bud to leaf was really wonderful.God of war 2 game size
The monsoon rains were always welcome because they ended the summer heat. Dehra Dun is always favoured by the rain-God.
Winter, too was pleasant, except when it rained. Heavy rainfall, hailstorm and hailstones troubled occasionally. But, after all, there was a comfortable habitation. They watched various animals and insects that came their way. As the author grew more observants, he started noticing all the manner of these insects.Sany excavator error codes
He never interfered with the insects as they were living their life without interfering with him. It was another thing that there was a continuous war between the author and the bed bugs and the mosquitoes to some extent the flies. There was a understanding between the author and other creatures.
